TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics head coach
Jay Ramirez has announced the signing of four student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the team in the fall of 2021.
"We are extremely excited to announce our Class of 2021 athletes and have them join our Tiger family" said Ramirez. "Each one of these athletes brings a special quality to our program which is going to add depth as well as consistency. They will be a key part of our journey to another huge rankings jump for Towson next year."
Clara Hong from Sugarland, Texas and trains at Pearland Elite Gymnastics. In 2020, she was listed in America's Top-100 for bars. She was a 2019 Junior Olympic National Qualifier after winning bars at the Regional Championships. She also placed third on beam, floor and all-around at the 2019 Regional Championships. She was the 2019 Texas State Champion on bars and all-around, defending her 2018 Texas State Bar Champion title. She also placed second on floor and third on beam at the 2019 State Championships.
Mia Davis from Lincoln Park, New Jersey and trains at North Stars Gymnastics in Boonton. She is a two-time Junior Olympic National Qualifier at level 10 and started gymnastics when she was four years old. Her favorite event is vault, where she holds a career-high score of 9.800. She made America's Top-100 list in 2017 for vault (9.725) and 2020 for vault (9.800).
Lauren Keener from Holly Springs, North Carolina and trains at Sonshine Gymnastics. During the 2019-20 season she was a three-time bar champion. During her time as a level 10, she recorded a total of 10 top-5 finishes on bars and six top-5 finishes on beam, including a 6th-place finish on beam at the 2019 Region 8 Championships. In 2017, she was an Eastern National alternate and placed 6th on beam, 7th on vault, and 8th all-around at the Region 8 Championships.
Caitlyn Allen from Forest Hill, Maryland and trains at Harford Gymnastics in Joppa. She is a 9-time Regional Qualifier and was a First Alternate for Nationals in 2017. She has competed 12 years and spent the past four years competing at level 10. Her career high is a 9.600 on bars, which she achieved this past season.
The 2021 gymnastics team will host its annual black and gold meet in January.
