TOWSON, Md. – In a nail biting finish, the Towson University gymnastics team defeated UNC 194.325-194.225 in a dual-meet Friday evening in SECU Arena.
Season-high and running scores 48.750 (vault), 48.325 (bars), 48.475 (beam) and 48.775 (floor) gave the Tigers its overall score and win over the Tar Heels since 2018 and regular-season win since 2014.
How It Happened
- Camille Vitoff had a tied her season-high on vault with a score of 9.800 to finish in second place. Emerson Hurst tied for fourth with a score of 9.750.
- Amy Stewart came in first place with season-high score of 9.875 on the uneven bars. Tess Zientek tied for second with a season-high score of 9.850. Ally Wesoly tied for fourth with a 9.800 and Kyla Gamble scored a 9.750.
- Hurst finished first on beam with a season-high score of 9.875. Vitoff finished in fourth with a 9.750.
- It was a five-way tie for second place on floor and Melissa Temkov and Hurst were amongst the group. Both ladies finished with a season-high score of 9.800.

"I am incredibly proud of these athletes for pulling through and keeping up the energy the entire meet," said Ramirez. "We focused on staying in the moment and having those moments take us to the end. We did not have a perfect meet, but they stayed diligent."

Towson is on the road next weekend, Feb. 15 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania to compete in a tri-meet against Pitt and Yale. The meet is slated for a 2 p.m. start time inside Fitzgerald Field House.
