RICHMOND, Va. – On Tuesday, Towson University softball sophomore pitcher
Sara Johnson was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Pitcher of the week for the first time this season.
Johnson pitched a total of 12 innings this weekend, including her first shut out of the season in a 3-0 win over Iona. She threw the entire game allowing only five hits and had 10 strikeouts.Overall, the Tigers went 3-1 in the DeMarini Tiger Invitational with wins over LaSalle (9-3) and Stony Brook (3-2).
She currently leads the team in strikeouts (48).
Other awards winners included, Kate Gordon of James Madison named Player of the Week and Emily Winburn of Delaware named Rookie of the Week.
Towson is back in action this Friday, March 13 taking on Morgan State in the opening round of the Tiger Invitational inside the Tiger Softball Stadium at 3 p.m.
