FORT LAUDERDALE, Fl. – Behind a strong second round from
Jackson Courtney, the Towson University men's golf team enjoyed a 10-stroke improvement from the first round at the Loyola Intercollegiate Tournament Monday afternoon.
After two rounds, the Tigers are 13th overall after shooting 295 in the second round. Fueled by third birdies on the front nine, Courtney finished the second round one over par after shooting a 71. He had five birdies and nine pars during a second round effort to remember. Overall, Courtney is five over after two rounds and tied for 43rd overall.
Freshman
Jeremy Summerson leads the Tigers after two rounds with a three-over 145. He shot an even par in first round and three over in the second round. Summerson had four birdies but was remarkably consistent throughout both rounds. He is tied for 33
rd overall.
Derek Gold carded a four-over 76 in the first round. In the second round,
Brad Riley shot a two-over 74 while
Justin Griffith was three-over 75. Riley and Griffith combined for five birdies in the second round.
Towson has a two-round score of 600, which is 13th overall (+24).
The Tigers tee off for the final round beginning at 8:58 a.m. Tuesday.
