INDIANAPOLIS – History has been made for senior thrower
Lauren Coleman of the Towson University indoor track and field team on being the first student-athlete to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in school history.
Coleman qualified in the shot put and is currently ranked 14th in the NCAA.
"I am so grateful to be able to represent Towson University and the Colonial Athletic Conference (CAA) at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field championships this year," said Coleman. "I have the best coaches and teammates that have been so supportive and hardworking this indoor season.
"I am also thankful to train with Coach Ball, he is so passionate and knowledgeable about throwing. He works so hard with our throws group and the multis, and is taking our program to the next level."
The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country committee made the announcement about the participants who will compete in the 2020 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships, and Coleman was among the participants who qualified.
"There is no one more deserving of this opportunity than
Lauren Coleman," said head coach Mike Jackson. "She has made the most of every moment here at Towson. She raises the bar for our program and set the standard for Towson Athletics.
"I have no doubt that she will make us proud at NCAAs!"
The championships, hosted by the University of New Mexico, will be held March 13 and 14 at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
ESPN3 will stream the championships live starting at 7:15 p.m. Eastern time March 13 and start at 6 p.m. Eastern time March 14. A re-air of the championship will take place starting at 9 p.m. Eastern time Monday, March 16 on ESPNU.
