Enajekpo, Redlo, Stewart Earn Spots in NCAA East Preliminaries

TOWSON, Md. - Three members of the Towson University track & field team have qualified for the NCAA East Preliminary Round, announced by the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross-Country Committee Thursday afternoon.

For the sixth consecutive year, the Towson University track & field team will attend the NCAA East Preliminary Round, where Olamide Enajekpo, Leeann Redlo and Baara Stewart will represent the Black & Gold.

Athletes ranked in the top 48 in individual events and the top 24 declared relay teams in the east or west region qualify for the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Preliminaries. Athletes who place in the top 12 in their respective events during the first round will move on to the final round at Hayward Field, hosted at the University of Oregon from June 10-13.

Olamide Enajekpo – Shot Put
Olamide Enajekpo makes her NCAA East Prelims debut after ranking 35th in the East Region in shot put with a mark of 15.77m, achieved earlier this season at the Dalton EBanks Invitational. The mark ranks third all-time in program history. At the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Outdoor Championship, Enajekpo secured All-CAA Honors after placing third in shot put with a 14.66m toss. The junior additionally appears on all-time rankings for the Tigers in the discus throw and the hammer throw.

Leeann Redlo – High Jump
Leeann Redlo makes her second consecutive NCAA East Prelims appearance in the high jump after ranking 10th in the East Region in the event at 1.82m, achieved earlier this season at the East Coast Relays, setting a Towson program record. Last year, Redlo ranked 29th in the region in the high jump with a mark of 1.76m to punch her ticket to the prelims for the first time. At the CAA Outdoor Championship, the senior was named the conference champion in the high jump and additionally earned All-CAA Honors in the heptathlon, finishing in third place. Redlo also appears on all-time rankings for the Black & Gold in the 100m hurdles, long jump and heptathlon.

Baara Stewart – 800m
Baara Stewart makes her NCAA East Prelims debut this year, ranking 40th in the East Region in the 800m with a time of 2:04.96, achieved earlier this season at the South Florida Invite and marks a Towson program record in the event. At the CAA Outdoor Championship, the junior was named the CAA Champion in the 800m after clocking 2:05.31. Stewart additionally picked up All-CAA Honors in the 4x400m after securing a second place finish. The Olney, Maryland native also appears on all-time rankings for Towson in the 4x400m and holds the school record in the 1500m (4:29.08).

Stewart is only the second distance runner in program history to qualify for the prelims and first in the 800m since the regional qualifying system was created in 2003.
