BOSTON -- The Towson University women's indoor track and field squad claimed the 2020 Indoor Track & Field Championships Sunday afternoon at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center.

The Tigers finished atop the standings with 63 team points, edging UConn's 59.75 and UAlbany in third with 58. 

Michella Obijiaku from Towson won Women's Performer of the Meet.

How it Happened

• Towson led the 41-team field heading into the final day, aided by a school record from Obijiaku in the weight throw (20.66m /67' 9.50"), which also broke the Italian national record. Elisia Lancaster took second with a throw of 19.67m. 
• The Tigers went one-two in the 60-meter dash finals as Crystal Johnson won the event in 7.47 seconds, followed by teammate Christina Higgins (7.49).
• Hayley Horvath took second in the pole vault, clearing 4.10m (13-5.25).
• Obijiaku finished with a throw of 13.56m (44' 06").
• Helnsarah Penda came in fifth place (8.70) in the 60-meter hurdles final.
• Johnson also earned points for the Tigers in the 200-meter dash running a time of 24.40.
