Men’s Swimming and Diving Extends Lead at Bucknell

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Behind top-10 times, the Towson University men's swimming and diving team remained atop the points standings at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday evening.

The Tigers racked 958 points through two days of action at Kinney Natatorium, adding to the gap to second place, currently held by Bucknell University with 834 points. Rider sits in third with 665.5 points, followed by NJIT (610), Davidson (577), Fordham (415) and La Salle (296.5).

How it Happened

Towson led the day with a two-second win in the 200-yard medley relay as Evan Bota, Brian Benzing, Nick McClure, and Ryan Baldino won with a time of 1 minute, 27.40, dropping over three seconds from qualifying.
Patrick Flint posted a 4:01.74 in the 400-yard IM for a third-place finish.
In the 100-yard butterfly, McClure won by a half second, touching in 48.03, edging NJIT's Edward Madrigal (48.54).
The Tigers went one-two in the 200-yard freestyle with Baldino winning in 1:37.49, a two-second gap to Michael Fazio's 1:39.65.
Benzing continued his chokehold on first place in the 100-yard breaststroke, winning the event in 53.07 ahead of Noah Diacumakos' 55.11 for a second-place finish. Benzing's winning time came in as an NCAA B Cut time, with the standard set at 54.27.
Bota picked up key points in the 100-yard backstroke, taking fifth in 50.06.

Up Next for Towson

The Tigers return one last time to Kinney Natatorium to conclude the Bucknell Invitational.
Action on Sunday kicks off at 10 a.m. with the preliminary rounds, followed by finals heats at 5 p.m.
