TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's track and field team will compete Friday, February 12-13 at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, hosted by Liberty. The meet will take place in Lynchburg, Virginia inside the Liberty Indoor Track Complex.
About the Meet
Darius Dixon: Darius Dixon, a promising freshman sprinter from Western Branch High School in Chesapeake, Va., opened his Liberty track & field career by competing in the 200 and 400-meter dash events at the Liberty Kickoff on Dec. 5, 2013. Two days later, he was tragically killed in a car accident at the age of 18. In his memory, Liberty will hold a Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational meet for the seventh straight year.
Other teams competing include Appalachian State, Campbell, East Carolina, ETSU, High Point, Liberty, North Carolina, Northeastern, Toledo, UNCG, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Western Carolina, William & Mary and Wofford.
Friday field events will begin at 3:00 pm with the running events beginning at 4:00. On Saturday, the field events will begin at 11 am and running events at noon. For live results,

Newcomers
The Tigers added 19 freshmen to the roster during the off season.
Last Time Out
The Tigers competed at the Brant Tolsma Invitational, hosted by Liberty last Saturday.
Crystal Johnson won the 60m dash with a time of 7.50.
Holly Edsall won the 500m run with a time of 1:19.33, while teammate
Deandra Francois came in third (1:20.05).
Georgia Coleman came second in the weight throw, 17.89m (58'8.25"), while
Hayley Horvath finished in third in pole vault scoring 4.06m (13'3.75").
Tigers in the Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area.
Towson was on track to have its 8th consecutive year of over 10,000 hours of community service in 2019-20 before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all activity. Towson finished with 7,527 hours last year, good for third in the NCAA Teamworks Helper Helper competition.
Towson ranked #1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson also won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
