TOWSON, Md. – Highlighted by 36 home games, the Towson University softball team head coach Lisa Costello has announced the 2021 schedule.
Towson will open the home campaign against St Joseph's, Rhode Island and Coppin March 5-7. All those games are doubleheaders.
Weekday games start on Wednesday, March 10 against Howard. The Tigers will also face Villanova (March 17), St. Francis (April 7), George Washington (April 8), Morgan State (April 14), St. Joseph's (April 21) and Morgan State (April 28) for all matinee midweek games.
The Tigers close out March with a 3 game series versus George Mason on March 27-28 and a doubleheader against Coppin on March 31.
Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) conference play begins at home April 2 against Hofstra. Game one of the series begins at noon.
Towson will see its first road action against CAA foe Drexel on April 16-17. Other road games include Hofstra (April 24-25) and Delaware (May 1).
The Tigers will host Drexel May 7-8. Following the game on May 8th, the program will recognize their 2 seniors.
The conference tournament, hosted by James Madison, begins May 6-8 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
Towson was picked to finish third in the North in the CAA preseason poll.
Towson has earned a CAA Tournament berth in six of the past seven seasons and will be looking to add to that total. Back to lead the Tigers is Madison Wilson, who earned Second Team All-CAA honors in 2019 and drove in a team-high 11 runs in 15 games in 2020. Lauren Ringhiser got off to a hot start a year ago, batting .378 in 14 games.
Last season ended abruptly due to COVID-19, but the Tigers won their last four of five games and finished the season with an 8-7 record.
