TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics team will compete in its first quad meet of the season hosted by NC State on Saturday, February 6. Other teams competing include Pittsburgh and UNC inside the Reynolds Coliseum at 4 p.m.
This is the third consecutive meet where the Tigers and Wolfpack will face off.

The Tigers added seven newcomers to the mix this season. Towson will be introducing fans to

Returners
Towson brings back one competing senior (
Tess Zientek), two juniors (
Nikki Borkowski and
Emerson Hurst) and five sophomores (
Lauren Bolen,
Paige Casper,
Amy Stewart,
Camille Vitoff and
Jenna Weitz) to round out the roster this year.
Last Time Out
Towson scored a season-high 194.475 in a tri-meet against Pitt and NC State last Sunday.
Lauren Bolen scored a career-high 9.9 on vault and finished first in the all-around with a 39.050.
Freshman
Allison Zuhlke tied for first on bars with a score of 9.875 and
Tess Zientek finished with a season-high 9.825.
Jenna Weitz earned a season-high 9.850 to finish second on beam and scored a 9.875 on floor.
Tigers in the Community
The Towson University athletics department deems community service as one of its highest priorities to give back to the Greater Baltimore area.
Towson was on track to have its 8th consecutive year of over 10,000 hours of community service in 2019-20 before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down all activity. Towson finished with 7,527 hours last year, good for third in the NCAA Teamworks Helper Helper competition.
Towson ranked #1 nationally for community service and won the 2018 National Championship for Community Service through the Helper Helper NCAA Team Works Competition. Towson also won the 2018 Volunteer of the Year Award from Susan G. Komen of Maryland.
Scouting the Opponents
NC State Wolfpack
NC State recorded 195.425 against Towson and Pitt last Sunday. Sophomore Chloe Negrete tabbed a 9.850 on vault, 9.875 on beam and 9.9 on floor. Junior Meredith Robinson finished with a 9.875 on bars and Emily Shepard finished with a 9.9 on vault.
Scouting the Pittsburgh Panthers
The Panthers hosted a tri-meet last Sunday with NC State and Towson finishing with a 195.700 score. Katrina Coca scored a 9.875 on bars tying for first-place. Four other members of the Panthers also had podium finishes.
Scouting the UNC Tar Heels
This is the second meet for the Tar Heels. They competed in a dual meet at New Hampshire posting a score of 195.200. Elizabeth Culton scored a 9.875 on bars and a 9.950 on beam winning both events.
Amplitude the Awards
- Sophomore Lauren Bolen was named East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Gymnasts of the Week for week three. Bolen was named Gymnast of the Week after competing in the all-around for the first time this season, scoring a career-high 39.050, and her first 39 ever. She won the all-around competition in an EAGL tri-meet.
She tied for first on vault scoring a 9.900 on her Yurchenko Full which is out of a 9.950, which was also a career high.
- Freshman Allison Zuhlke earned her first weekly award after being named Co-Rookie of the Week from the East Gymnastics League (EAGL) on Jan. 19. She posted two 9.7 scores for the Tigers helping them post their highest opening score in school history. She placed fifth on both bars and beam posting the third-highest score for the Tigers on both events.
Conference Rankings
- Towson is ranked 37th in the NCAA rankings.
- Lauren Bolen is ranked first in the all-around with a score of 39.050. She is also tied for sixth on vault with a 9.825 average, 9.9 season high.
- Nikki Borkowski is ranked 14th on vault with a 9.758 average, 9.850 high.
- Grace Vaillancourt is ranked 11th on bars with a 9.787 average, 9.8 high.
- Jenna Weitz is ranked third on beam with a 9.783 average, 9.850 high.
- Paige Casper is ranked sixth on floor with a 9.838 average, 9.850 high. Borkowski is ranked eighth with a 9.817 average, 9.850 high and Weitz is tied for ninth with a 9.808 average, 9.875 high.
