TOWSON, Md. – Following an impressive 65-point performance in Towson's weekend sweep over the College of Charleston, Kionna Jeter was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week for the third time this season.
Jeter dropped a game-high 28 points in Saturday's 90-81 win over the Cougars before netting 37 points in the 84-63 victory on Sunday to set a new career-best and tie for the most points scored in a CAA game this season. She now sits at fifth on the Towson Women's Basketball all-time scoring list with 1,410 points in less than three seasons.
The Spartanburg, S.C. native previously won the award Nov. 30 with a win over East Carolina and Jan. 25 following a complete sweep of Hofstra. This will be the fourth CAA weekly honor the Tigers have earned this season as freshman Allie Kubek took home Rookie of the Week on Dec. 7, 2020.
Joining Jeter in this week's conference honors is freshman guard Jamia Hazell of James Madison.
Over the weekend, Jeter averaged 32.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 steals and 1.5 rebounds. She currently ranks sixth nationally in points per game (24.7). The senior guard, who was named to the Dawn Staley Award late season watchlist, shot 52 percent (26-50) from the field and 44.4 percent (8-18) from behind the arc during the weekend series.
Towson (9-3, 4-1 CAA) will be back in SECU Arena on Wednesday to host more conference action against the Dukes (10-6, 6-3 CAA) at 2 p.m.
