PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Highlighted by a top-ten program score of 195.875, the Towson University gymnastics team captured third place Saturday night at the East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) at the Peterson Events Center. This is the highest score Towson has ever finished at EAGL's.
The last time the Tigers finished third was in 2015.
With a score of 9.9,
Emerson Hurst tied for first place an individual event winner on the beam.
Mary Elle Arduino won the title in 2018.
Allison Zuhlke became the first Tiger ever to be named the EAGL Rookie of the Year, while this is the third time that a coach has been named Head Coach of the Year as
Jay Ramirez earned the title. Assistant Coach
Ashley Sauer was named Assistant Head Coach of the Year.
Temple won the event with a score of 196.500, NC State came in second with a 196.050, fourth was George Washington with a 195.800, fifth was North Carolina (195.275), sixth was Pittsburgh (194.350) and LIU scored a 192.725.
The Tigers earned running scores of 48.725 on vault, 48.875 on bars, 49.025 on beam and a 49.225 on floor.
How it Happened
- The Tigers opened the night on beam and Hurst tied for first place with a 9.9. Jenna Weitz tied for fifth with a 9.850. Lauren Bolen scored a 9.8.
- Second rotation for the Tigers was floor and Amy Stewart tied for fourth-place with a score of 9.875. Bolen, Weitz and Camille Vitoff all scored a 9.850.
- Third rotation for Towson was vault and Vitoff finished in sixth scoring a 9.8.
- The Tigers rounded out the night on bars and Grace Vaillancourt tied for fourth-place with a score of 9.825. Zuhlke finished with a 9.8.
- Vitoff tied for second in the all-around with a season-high score of 39.200.
