Abrahamian Named CAA Pitcher of the Week

RICHMOND, Va. – On Tuesday, Towson University softball senior pitcher Melissa Abrahamian was named Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season.

Abrahamian helped the Tigers to a 4-1 start on the season in their opening weekend of play. She appeared in three games pitching 13.0 innings and recording a 2-0 record to begin the spring. Abrahamian recorded key outs in a pair of one-run victories to begin the season.

First, in Towson's 6-5 win over Rhode Island, she pitched 6.1 innings to help the Tigers sweep the Rams. Then in a 3-2 victory over Coppin State, she into the circle in a relief appearance pitching 3.0 innings and not surrendering a single hit while striking out four.

Other award winners include, Meghan Giordano and Chelsea Manto from Hofstra was named Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Towson is back in action tomorrow, March 10 to take on Howard inside the Tiger Softball Stadium for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. Due to COVID protocol only a fans and family of the Towson team are allowed in the stadium and must be on the pass list.
