RICHMOND, Va. – Following a strong season on the court for the Towson women's basketball team, Kionna Jeter, Aleah Nelson and Allie Kubek received All-CAA (Colonial Athletic Association) postseason honors. The conference made its annual announcement Tuesday morning ahead of the CAA Championship Tournament set to begin on Wednesday, March 10 at Elon's Schar Center.
Jeter earned First Team All-CAA accolades for the third consecutive season and is the first Tiger to accomplish this feat since joining the conference. The senior finished the regular season averaging 23.3 points per game to rank second in the league and 11th in the country. She netted +30 points six times this season including a conference-high 37-point performance against the College of Charleston on Feb. 7. She also scored +30 in three consecutive contests, the first to do so in the league since the 2012-13 season. Jeter also averaged 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.4 steals over the regular season.
Jeter was named the CAA Preseason Player of the Year as well as a Semifinalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award and a candidate for the Senior CLASS Award. She earned three CAA Player of the Week awards throughout the season as well.
The Spartanburg, S.C. native is currently third overall on the Towson University women's basketball all-time scoring list. She has 1,563 career points. Next on the list is Tanisha McTiller with 1,605 points.
Nelson was named to the All-CAA second team following her first season in the conference. During the regular season, the sophomore led the league and currently ranks eighth nationally, averaging 6.3 assists per game. She also led the CAA in total helpers (119). Nelson topped the Tigers in assists during 17 games this season.
Behind Jeter, Nelson ranks second on the team in scoring averaging with 13.6 points per contest. The Baltimore native reached double digits in 16 contests and scored +15 points eight times. She also averaged 3.8 boards and 1.4 steals per game.
Kubek rounded out the postseason awards list for the Tigers, getting an All-CAA Rookie Team selection. Kubek is the first freshman to start every regular season game for Towson since the 2006-07 season. She has been a consistent force on the boards, finishing the regular season averaging 6.9 rebounds per game to rank 10th in the conference and lead the Tigers. Her and Taylor Webster of UNCW are the only freshmen across the conference to crack the top-10.
The Elkton, Md. native earned two CAA Rookie of the Week honors throughout the regular season. She had three double-doubles and eight double-figure outings. Against Drexel on Feb. 21, she set career-highs with 20 points and 14 rebounds.
Jeter, Nelson and Kubek will be back in action with the rest of the squad for the CAA Championship Tournament Quarterfinals against Hofstra on March 11 at 11 a.m.
