TOWSON, Md. – Towson University's
Tibo Debaillie is ready to start his professional career, being taken 20
th overall by the Edmonton Football Team in the 2021 Canadian Football League (CFL) Global Draft on Thursday.
Debaillie, native of Gistel, Belgium, was a third-round pick, taken second in the third round by Edmonton for 20
th overall. Debaillie joins
Malik Tyne as picks by Edmonton. Tyne was selected 24
th overall in the 2020 CFL Draft.
With Towson from 2017-19, Debaillie played in 22 career games on the defensive line. He finished with 28 tackles, including 21 in his 2019 season as a starter, adding three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. He earned a career-high nine tackles in the 2019 season-opening victory at The Citadel.
The CFL Global Draft is a four-round, 36-player draft for players outside Canada and the USA. All CFL teams have to keep at least two global players on the active roster and three on the practice roster.

Tom Flacco signed free agents contracts into the CFL with the BC Lions and Saskatchewan Roughriders respectively. Several Towson alumni have been part of the CFL, including
