Towson Concludes Day One at Multiple Meets

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University track and field team split for two separate meets this weekend in two different states.

Some of the Tigers competed in day one of the Virginia Challenge in Charlottesville, Virginia while other Tigers stayed local for the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational.

New personal-records at both meets highlighted the day for Towson.

How it Happened – Virginia Challenge
  • Adia Cavalier had a new personal-record in the long jump with a 5.76m (18'10.25") mark. Christina Riggins jumped 5.72m (18'9.25").
  • Riggins had a number two all-time performance in the 100m running a time of 11.74 to finish in fourth-place. Shamika Burton ran a time of 11.94.
  • Satori Valentine ran a time of 57.79 in the 400m.
  • Lauren Coleman finished in 12th in the hammer with a throw of 55.73m (182'10").
  • Kira Parsons finished in 11th in the javelin with a throw of 41.16m (135'0").
  • Hayley Horvath finished with a new outdoor school record finishing in second in the pole vault invite with a 4.26m (13"11.75") mark.
 
How it Happened – Hopkins/Loyola Invitational
  • Ani Boghossian-James finished in second place in the heptathlon 100 hurdle with a time of 14.74. Liana Wilkinson came in third (15.39).
  • Boghossian-James then came in first in the heptathlon high jump with a mark 1.62m. Wilkinson (1.50m) and Christina Marion (1.47m) came in fourth and fifth, respectively.
  • Boghossian-James also won the heptathlon 200m dash with a time of 26.58. Wilkinson (27.04) and Marion (27.42) finished in third and fourth, respectively.
  • Then in the shot put, Boghossian-James came in second with a mark of 9.23m and Wilkinson (7.52m) and Marion (7.25m) finished in fourth and fifth.
  • Maria Bravo came in second in the hammer throw with a throw of 44.98. Fatimah Owens had a personal-record throwing 43.58m and Samira Van Der Laan came in fifth (40.71).

The Tigers will stay split and wrap up the weekend at the Virginia Challenge and the Loyola/Hopkins Invitational tomorrow.
