Women's Basketball to Compete in Preseason WNIT Classic

FORT COLLINS, Co. — The Towson women's basketball team is set to compete in the Preseason WNIT Classic in the fall of 2021.

This year's tournament format will be slightly altered due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. Teams will be divided into two four-team pods hosted by NC State and Kansas State. Each team will be guaranteed three games.

The Tigers will travel to the home of the Wolfpack in Raleigh, N.C. to play the round-robin format. Towson will face Florida (Nov. 12) before seeing Wofford (Nov. 14) and NC State (Nov. 15).

The other pod, hosted by the Wildcats, will welcome North Carolina A&T, UT Martin and Western Kentucky.

No champion will be crowned at the completion of the tournament, however, each pod will have its own all-tournament team.

The Tigers have previously competed in the Preseason WNIT twice, coming away with one win against Rider in 2014-15 and two victories against Winthrop and the Aggies during the 2009-10 slate.
