Greetings Tiger Nation!
Each competition year brings its share of challenges. However, it would be hard to imagine, at least in recent history, that there was a year when Towson University student-athletes, coaches, staff members and fans faced as many obstacles as we did in 2020-21. Our Tigers met those challenges in true Towson fashion, with resilience, and made the most out of every opportunity.
As Towson Athletics continues to rebuild following the harsh realities of COVID-19, the passion of Tiger Nation will help us to get back on track to provide a world-class student-athlete experience. I want to especially thank those of you who have contributed to the Tiger Athletic Fund over the past 18 months. I am inspired by your commitment and continued investment in our mission to lead and motivate our student-athletes to be champions in competition, the classroom and the community.
We have a lot to look forward to as we transition into a new season of competition. Two-time defending Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Champion Towson Volleyball returns with all starters back from last season, and will host two home tournaments at SECU Arena. Towson Football returns after opting out of the 2020-21 academic season, beginning with the return of the Battle for Greater Baltimore at Morgan State on Sept. 4. Most importantly, we need you join us for the home opener against eight-time FCS champion North Dakota State on Sept. 18–kick-off set for 6 PM. Towson Women's Soccer returns all starters after a spring season where the team defeated both James Madison and Delaware. Field Hockey and Cross Country also return with optimism for a banner year.
However, challenges both familiar and unfamiliar lie ahead. With your support behind the scenes, I truly believe we can make noise in the CAA conference and beyond. Championships are in our future, and I want you to be part of them as a fan, but also as a stakeholder in our success.
I ask each and every member of Tiger Nation to considerÂ
joining the Tiger Athletic Fund this season, even if it's just $5; it all adds up to make a difference. During COVID-19, our department set a new record for the most donor gifts in a single year. We came together as a community when we needed it the most, and funds raised will support over 540 student-athletes during the upcoming 2021-22 competition season.
I ask that you remember that our strength will be in our numbers. We look forward to seeing you back on campus and out in the community, socializing and rallying behind our student-athletes that proudly don the Black & Gold of Towson University.
All fall sport schedules can be viewed on TowsonTigers.com. Come out and support your favorite Tiger teams! Please stay healthy and safe, and thank you for your continued support of Towson Athletics.
Sincerely–
Tim Leonard
