TOWSON, Md. — The Towson indoor track & field team came in at No. 11 in the first USTFCCCA Mid-Atlantic region indoor rankings of the season. The organization made the announcement Monday afternoon.
Penn State leads the standings with 456.83 total points, followed by Rutgers (245.62), Howard (229.14), Navy (205.36) and Maryland (161.18) to round out the top five. After just three meets so far, the Tigers have picked up 92.43 points.
The black & gold have experienced a lot of success early on with multiple first place finishes and personal bests so far this slate. At the team's last outing, Penn State National, Ainsley Jacobs secured a new school record in the 3000 meters with a time of 9:48.26. The previous record of 9:48.93 had been set in 2018 by Emily Johnson. Crystal Johnson also earned her third first place finish in the 60 meter dash with her fastest time of the season, 7.42.
Next up, head coach Mike Jackson and the Tigers will travel to George Mason on Jan. 29 for the Patriot Games.
