Towson, Md.- Towson University Tigers tennis team wins doubles and singles flight championship to close out the Bedford Cup. The Tigers will close out their fall schedule by hosting the Fall Tiger Classic on Oct.14-16.
"The team went through some tough challenges, including injuries and some inconsistent play at times," said Head Coach
Jamie Peterson. "However, our overall performance as a team improved from the last tournament. We ended with a solid 6-0 doubles win over a Morgan State team. Our goal now is to get healthy and play our best tennis of the fall in a few weeks at the Tiger Classic. "
Day Three ResultsÂ
Singles
Testudo Flight:
Sarah Pospischill went against Sifa Butcher for the Testudo flight championship, but fell 6-4, 6-3 in a close match. Pospischill has finished second in her flight for the third time in her career at the Bedford Cup.

Maryland Flight:
Antonia Lawson played against Hana El-Sherif and fell 8-3 in the South bracket.
Jessica Assenmacher was victorious against Maitree Rout 8-2 in the 3-4 playoff.

Red Flight:
Sania Suchinsky battled against Alexandra Blackwell and fell 8-4 in the South bracket.

Yellow Flight:
Olivia Rothfeld and
Sissi Axelsson had a three-set thriller in the Yellow Flight championship, with Rothfeld coming out on top. Axelsson won the first set 6-4, then Rothfeld won the second set 6-1 and won the tiebreaker 10-8.   Â

White Flight:
Erin Gray defeated Jianna Benton 8-1 in the West bracket final.
Nadeen Shrebati dropped her match in the South bracket final to Emperess Johnson 8-5.
DoublesÂ
Green Flight:
Assenmacher/Pospischill went against Maitree Rout/Ashley Fitz-Patrick and fell 6-4 in a tight match.
Rothfeld/Lawson squared off against Lauryn Hall/Averiana Mitchell in the Green Flight championship and came away victorious 6-0. Â
