TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University women's basketball team was voted to finish in fifth place after receiving two first-place votes in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Preseason Poll.
 
The Tigers were picked to finish in fifth place and received 99 points with two first-place votes.
 
Drexel was picked to repeat as regular season champions, receiving 142 points and ten first-place votes. Charleston was voted to finish second, receiving one vote, with Stony Brook and Elon picked ahead of Towson.
 
Senior guard/forward Anissa Rivera was picked to the Preseason All-CAA First Team after being named All-CAA Preseason Honorable Mention last year. Rivera led the Tigers last season in rebounding, averaging 7.1 boards a game, including a season-best 14 against Frostburg State.
 
The senior from Capitol Heights, Md., finished third on the team in scoring with 10.3 points, including a high of 23 points against Elon. She had double-digit points in 15 games, reached double-digit rebounds in seven outings and was tied with the team lead in double-doubles with five.
 
Redshirt junior guard Kylie Kornegay-Lucas was named to the Preseason All-CAA Second Team. Kornegay-Lucas was the 2021-22 CAA Sixth Player of the Year after averaging 8.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game off the bench.
 
The Camden, Del. native led the Tigers in steals with 40 and finished second in assists with 71. She registered the first Towson triple-double since 1993 when she had 11 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds against Delaware.
 
Towson will open its season at SECU Arena on Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. against Longwood.
