TOWSON, Md. – With the 2023 season right around the corner, the Towson University gymnastics team has announced the themes for the intrasquad and four home meets.
All meets will be held at the SECU Arena with post-meet autographs available at each.
Friday Jan. 6th at 6 p.m. will be the Black & Gold Intrasquad meet, a scrimmage event open to the public with no ticket purchase necessary. Own Your Roar, a campaign based on student-athlete mental health awareness founded by former Towson gymnast Olivia Lubarsky, is the theme for this competition. There will be a team poster giveaway and three-minute cheer/poms team performance as well.
The Tigers officially open the home schedule on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m. with the George McGinty Alumni meet, hosting New Hampshire, West Virginia and West Chester. The theme for this event will be Pink Meet in recognition of breast cancer awareness.
Feb. 1 at 6 p.m. marks the only home dual meet hosted by the Tigers. George Washington travels to SECU for the Tigers' annual Pride-themed meet.
The Shelley Calloway Invitational meet takes place on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m. For this meet's theme the student-athletes have the chance to "choose their cause", bringing awareness to charities of their choice. Fans are also encouraged to bring dog toys for a dog toy toss with Maryland SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Baltimore City, Inc.).
The Tigers' last home meet of the season is the senior day quad meet with George Washington, Fisk and William & Mary on Feb. 26 at 1 p.m. Graduating seniors and their families are going to be honored at the conclusion of the meet. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Day will be the theme for the event as the Tigers will be celebrating Fisk University becoming the first ever HBCU to have a collegiate gymnastics team.
Season tickets for the 2023 season are now available. Season ticket price is $20, single meet price is $8 and group pricing is $5 when you buy 10 or more tickets. Single meet tickets go on sale starting January 6th.
