TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team announced its 2023 schedule on Friday. The schedule features 25 home contests, including the annual TU DeMarini Invite in early March.
The Tigers will kick off the season with the first of three trips to South Carolina at the Coastal Carolina Tournament. Towson will take on Penn State and the host Chanticleers on February 10. South Dakota and UMass Lowell will be the opponents the next day with Towson wrapping up the tournament against Coastal Carolina on February 12.
The following weekend will see the Tigers at the Furman Tournament in Greenville, S.C. taking on Binghamton (Feb. 17 and 19), Bellarmine (Feb. 18), Sacred Heart (Feb. 19) and Furman (Feb. 18).
Towson rounds out February with a three-game series at Charleston Southern. The two will play a double header on February 25 with a single game on February 26.
The Tigers open March with the TU DeMarini Invite at the Tiger Softball Stadium. Towson will face Bucknell and Bryant on March 3 before a single game with the Bulldogs on March 4. The tournament wraps up with Bucknell and Coppin State on March 5.
That tournament will be part of 16 home games in the month of March. The Tigers will also host Maryland Eastern Shore (March 8, DH), Saint Francis (March 15, DH), Charleston (March 18-19), Villanova (March 21, DH), and Morgan State (March 29, DH). In between that, Towson travel to UNCW on March 11-12, UNCG on March 23 and Elon on March 25-26.
April opens with a CAA series at home against Drexel. The two will play a twin bill on April 1 with the series concluding on April 2 with a single game. The Tigers will then hit the road for two games at George Mason (Apr. 5), a three-game series at Hofstra (Apr. 7-8) and a single game across the beltway at UMBC (Apr. 12).
North Carolina A&T will visit Towson for three games from April 15-16 before the Tigers embark on a road trip that spans Georgetown (Apr. 19) and Delaware (Apr. 22-23). Towson concludes the home slate against Stony Brook on April 29-30.
The Tigers will close the regular season at Maryland on May 2 for a night game against the Terps. The CAA Tournament will be held May 9-13 with the top eight teams traveling to Bill Edwards Stadium in Hempstead, N.Y. for a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
