RICHMOND, Va.– The Towson University softball team will enter the 2022 season as the eighth team in the Colonial Athletic Association Conference (CAA), according to the CAA Softball Preseason Poll which was released on Tuesday.
JMU collects top billings in the conference, boasting 48 points and six first-place votes. Delaware slots second with 42 points while Elon sits at third with 35 points; both teams pick up a first-place vote. Hofstra earns 28 points and Drexel picks up 24 points to round out the top five. UNCW (22), Charleston (14), and Towson (11) cap off the last three spots, respectively.
The Tigers welcome back both All-CAA honorees from last spring. Third base, Chloe Poulich was a second-team All-CAA selection. Poulich hit .362 with 34 hits, 21 runs scored and a team-best 20 RBIs. All-CAA Rookie, Mackenzie Lake earned honors following a freshman season in which she led Towson in batting average (.381), hits (37) and runs scored (22).
