Women's Gymnastics 2.27.2022 John Stark No. 23 Gymnastics Improves Road Best to 196.000 LOGAN, Utah – Just two days after setting a season-best on the road, the No. 23 Towson University women's gymnastics program scored another season-best with a 196.000 at No. 14 Utah State University on Sunday evening. Towson (12-6) improved its best road score by nearly half a point in the Tigers' second meet of the weekend. Towson scored another two 49.000s at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum on Sunday, including a season-best 49.275 on floor behind a 9.925 from Nikki Borkowski. The Tigers finished with three podium finishes, including first-place ties from Steph Macasu (bars) and Lauren Bolen (Vault). Borkowski finished second overall on floor with her season-best. Utah State (9-6) posted the top score on all four rotations, scoring at least a tie for first on every rotation. The Aggies' Rebecca Wells was the only competitor to compete on all four rotations for either team as she scored a 38.250. How it Happened Towson led the meet on bars, paced by Macasu's 9.850 which tied for first on the apparatus with three Aggies. Vaillancourt tied for fifth on bars with a 9.825 while Sarah Girot and Vitoff tied for seventh with one another, scoring 9.800s. Clara Hong was Towson's fifth scorer, logging a 9.775. On vault, Towson got a first-place finish from Lauren Bolen, who scored a 9.850, tying her season high. Freshman Elise Tisler knocked down a 9.800 on the vault to finish tied for fourth while Jenna Weitz and Vitoff logged a pair of 9.750s to tie for sixth. Borkowski posted a 9.700 to round out Towson's vault scores. Towson's best rotation of the evening came third as the Tigers hit floor with a combined 49.275. Borkowski's 9.925 led Towson with her career-best while finishing second in the floor standings. Her score included a 9.95 from Judge Two. Amy Stewart tied for fifth with a 9.875 followed by Vaillancourt in seventh overall with a 9.850 followed by Jenna Weitz's tally of 9.825. Bolen rounded out the floor scores with a 9.800. Utah State won the floor competition, scoring a big 49.450 with all five scorers at a 9.825 or better. The Tigers finished the road trip on beam as Hong led the Black & Gold with a 9.825 to finish fourth while Hurst went for a 9.800. Lauren Keener and Vaillancourt scored 9.775 and 9.725, respectively. Bolen and Weitz scored 9.700s on beam. Behind the Numbers Towson's total score of 196.000 ranks 11th all-time in program history and stands as one of the program's top scores on the road. Towson scored another pair of 49.000s on Sunday, bringing the season total to 17, a new program record for scores of 49.000 or better. The Tigers' 49.275 on floor is tied for the ninth-best score in program history while the 49.050 on bars is tied for the 17th best score in program history. Towson's 196.000 is the Tigers' best road score this season, coupled with Towson's third-best road score of the year with a 195.600 on Friday at Utah State. Up Next for Towson The Tigers have one more road trip on the regular season docket as Towson heads to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania next weekend.
