TOWSON, Md. – Hosting one last meet this season at SECU Arena, the Towson University women's gymnastics team posted a 196.625, tied for the third-highest score in program history, during a quadmeet with No. 28 University of Maryland, George Washington University and Southern Connecticut State University.
The Tigers (15-7) finished their season at SECU Arena with a 12-2 mark. A red-hot Maryland team won the quad, scoring a 197.175, the second-straight week the Terps have gone 197.000 or better. George Washington finished third with a 195.575 while Southern Connecticut scored a 190.525.
For the third time this season, Towson racked scores of 49.000 or better, including a 49.250 on bars. For a third time this season, Towson scored a 49.100 on vault, the third-highest score in team history. Additionally, the Tigers went 49.075 on beam and 49.200 on floor.
How it Happened
- Junior Camille Vitoff hit a 9.900 on vault, entering a three-way tie for third as Towson moved in an Olympic order for the first time since February 19.
- Elise Tisler and Lauren Bolen scored a pair of 9.825s, tying for sixth while Nikki Borkowski logged a 9.800. Jenna Weitz and Mia Davis rounded out Towson's vault efforts with a 9.750.
- In a tight bars competition, Towson was led by third-place finishes from freshmen Lauren Keener and Steph Macasu as the pair posted 9.900s. Vitoff was third for Towson with a 9.850 while another freshman, Sarah Girot, scored a 9.825. Clara Hong, yet another rookie, was Towson's fifth scorer at 9.775.
- For the first time in her young career, Keener was first in an event, scoring a 9.875 on beam for a three-way tie for first. Hong and senior Emerson Hurst were tied for fourth with a pair of 9.825s as Lauren Bolen notched a 9.800, tying for seventh as Grace Vaillancourt scored a 9.750 to tie for 11th.
- On floor to round out the meet, four of Towson's five scorers were within a quarter-tenth of each other. Hong, Borkowski and Amy Stewart all tied for fifth with scores of 9.875 while Vaillancourt posted a 9.850. Bolen, competing leadoff on floor for Towson, scored a 9.725.
- The Tigers did not have any all-around competitors. Maryland's Audrey Barber scored a 39.625 to win the all-around, while George Washington's Deja Chambliss was second with a 38.800.
Behind the Numbers
- Towson's 196.625 was the third-highest score in program history, tying with a similar score on March 21, 2003, also against Maryland. It is the second-best score for Towson at home and overall this season.
- The Tigers' 49.100 on vault marked the third time this season the Tigers have hit at least that mark, which is tied for the third-best vault score in program history.
- Towson and Maryland were the only teams to post four 49.000s or better on Friday night.
- The Tigers finished 12-2 in duals at home this year. Combined between the gymnastics team, women's volleyball, women's basketball and men's basketball, Towson teams went a combined 53-7 at SECU Arena this academic year.
- Friday was the 92nd meeting all-time against Maryland; the Terps have now won 47 times while the Tigers have 44 victories to their credit.
- It was Senior Night for the Tigers. Following the awards ceremony, head coach Jay Ramirez, assistant coach Ashley Sauer and volunteer assistant coach Kristen Presutti Callihan honored the program's three seniors: Nikki Borkowski, Emerson Hurst and Jaz Kauffman.
- The Tigers also recognized seniors from each school.
- In addition to senior night, Towson held its first-annual Soft Dog Toy Toss, collecting over 200 plush toys for donation to the Maryland SPCA.

- It's postseason time for the Tigers as Towson heads for Washington, D.C. next Saturday for the 2022 EAGL (East Atlantic Gymnastics League) Championships.
- George Washington will be hosting the EAGL Championships this year, with two sessions on Saturday, March 19 at the Charles E. Smith Center in the heart of D.C.
