RICHMOND, Va. – The Towson outdoor track and field team had a solid showing at Richmond's Fred Hardy Invitational.
The Tigers ended with four gold medals and seven additional top-three finishes. Georgia Coleman, Sydney Tucker, Deborah Gnoumou all earned top finishes while Hayley Horvath placed first in pole vault and set a new facility record at Richmond's Robbins Stadium.
How it Happened
- Coleman started off strong, winning the hammer throw with a toss of 56.60 meters. Fatimah Owens came in seventh with a throw of 46.25 meters.
- With a mark of 13.20 meters, Kayla Thorpe followed up with a second place finish in the shot put. Coleman came in fifth (12.16).
- Owens secured second place in the discus throw with a mark of 43.05. Coleman took fifth (39.45).
- Dennee Hibbert earned the silver in the triple jump with a leap of 11.73. Aliyah Anderson (11.42) and Christina Marion (11.39) followed in fifth and sixth places, respectively.
- Kira Parsons came in seventh in the javelin with a throw of 32.37 meters.
- Horvath won the pole vault and set the facility record at Robins Stadium with a height of 3.90 meters.
- Two Tigers finished in the top-six of the high jump as both Ani Boghossian-James (fourth place) and Anderson (sixth place) cleared 1.55 meters.
- In the long jump, Hibbert came in third with a jump of 5.71 meters and Marion followed in sixth, 5.49 meters.
- Nicole Bezborodko posted a time of 11:59.11 in the 3000 meter steeplechase to take third.
- Two Tigers found their way onto the podium in the 100 meter hurdles as Gnoumou took gold (15.32), and Boghossian-James claimed bronze (15.79).
- Cristal Cuervo came in third place in the 400 meter dash, clocking 58.17.
- Tucker also secured gold in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.44.
- The 4x400 team of Mia Martinez, Cuervo, Satori Valentine and Trinytee Jacobs took fourth in the event, finishing with a time of 4:00.30.
