TOWSON, Md. – After a hard-fought effort, the Towson University women's tennis team fell to Delaware on Tuesday afternoon, 7-0.
"We fought hard against a very good Delaware team for the entire three-hour match," head coach Jamie Peterson said. "Along the line we struggled in a few matches but also gave ourselves really good opportunities in three singles matches. Not the result we wanted, but credit to Delawares' play."
The pair of Jessica Assenmacher and Amelia Lawson earned the 7-6(2) win on the second doubles court but it wasn't enough as Delaware took the first point of the match with wins on courts No. 1 and No. 3.
Sissi Axelsson took the second set on court No. 6 but ultimately fell in a super tiebreaker, 7-6, 6-7, 12-10. The Blue Hens went onto pick up victories on the other five singles courts to clinch the 7-0 match win.
