TOWSON, Md. – The Towson outdoor track and field team wrapped up the 2022 Towson Invitational on Saturday evening.
The Tigers ended their home meet on a high note with 18 top 10 finishes including three first place decisions.
How it Happened
- Kayla Thorpe finished third in the javelin with a best throw of 43.15 meters.
- Fatimah Owens won the discus with a toss of 45.94 meters. Georgia Coleman finished in seventh with a mark of 39.06 meters.
- Aliyah Anderson finished second in the high jump with a mark of 1.65 meters. Ani Boghossian-James followed in fifth (1.60 meters).
- Denee Hibbert came in ninth in the long jump with a distance of 5.35 meters.
- The 400 meter relays team of Satori Valentine, Sydney Tucker, Cristal Cuervo and Crystal Johnson won the race with a final time of 46.94.
- Aubrey Schaffer placed fourth in the 5000 meters, clocking 18:37.23.
- Cuervo won the 400 meter finishing in 56.14. Chalys Caruth followed closely behind in second place with a time of 56.47.
- Deborah Gnoumou took sixth in the 100 hurdles, clocking 14.95. Boghossian-James followed in seventh (15.27).
- Rachel Thomas (2:20.21) and Alison Betler (2:20.43) finished in the top 10 of the 800 meters, finishing in ninth and 10th, respectively.
- Johnson earned silver in the 200 meter dash, clocking 24.64. Cuervo was right behind her in second with a time of 24.94. Tucker also finished in the top 10 in ninth place (25.45).
- The 1600 meter relay team of Thomas, Mia Martinez, Betler and Lexi Mogensen ended in ninth place with a combined time of 4:15.48.

Up next, the Tigers will split next weekend between the Aggie Invitational (April 8-9) at North Carolina A&T and the Mason Spring Invitational (April 9) at George Mason.
