TOWSON, Md. – After a record-setting weekend, Crystal Johnson has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) women's track Athlete of the Week. The CAA made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.
Johnson set a new Towson program record in the 200m dash at the Virginia Challenge, clocking a time of 23.75. The previous program high of 23.90 had been set by Liz Reid in 2019. The time was good enough for third at the meet and measures up as the top time in the CAA this season.
In addition, Johnson improved her league-leading time in the 100m dash, running a season-best 11.63. Both her 100m and 200m times are ranked in the top 100 of the NCAA East Region.
Johnson now owns the top program times in the indoor and outdoor 200m as well as the indoor 100m.
Dominque Biron of Northeastern was named CAA women's field Athlete of the Week to round out the weekly conference awards.
The Tigers will take the week off in preparation for the CAA Championships on May 6-7, held in Boston, Massachusetts.
