WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- The Towson University track and field team finished in third place at the ECAC Outdoor Championships on Sunday afternoon.
The team jumped up nine spots from their 12th place finish on the first day of the meet, ending with 56 total points in third. James Madison won the meet with 80 points while Hampton took second with 60.
The Tigers have now finished in the top-5 at ECAC's for the past five seasons, dating back to 2018.
How it Happened
- Crystal Johnson became the first 100m dash champion in program history, winning the event with a time of 11.77. She followed up with a second place finish in the 200m, clocking 23.91.
- Ani Boghossian-James tied for fifth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.61 meters.
- Cristal Cuervo took 18th in the 400m with a time of 57.00.
- Hayley Horvath earned gold in the pole vault for the second year in a row and set the ECAC Outdoor meet record with a height of 4.8 meters. Millie Klefsaas also finished in sixth with a height of 3.78 meters. The Tigers have now had two pole vaulters score in back-to-back championship meets.
- Fatimah Owens placed second in the discus throw with a mark of 47.31 meters, the highest finish in program history.

Horvath (23rd in pole vault) and Kayla Thorpe (22nd in javelin) are both currently ranked in the top-48 of the east region and qualify for the NCAA East Preliminary round. The meet will take place at Indiana University in Bloomington from May 25-28.
