Webb and Rogers Return to Towson Women's Basketball Staff

TOWSON, Md. — Laura Harper, head coach of the Towson University women's basketball team, has made additional hires to her staff. Harper announced both Ciara Webb and Christie Rogers will be returning to Towson.

After donning the Black & Gold on the court from 2011-2015, Webb will come back to Towson Athletics as the Director of Basketball Operations. Christie Rogers was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator under Niki Reid Geckeler from 2012-2016 and will return to the staff as a special assistant to the head coach.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be returning to Towson," Rogers said. "As a Maryland native, I have watched very closely and seen the incredible amount of investment that has been poured into the University, the Athletic Department, and the women's basketball program. Additionally, getting the chance to continue to work with Coach Harper is such a blessing. Not only is she a proven winner, but she is also a woman of high character and extreme integrity. I look forward to helping her take this program, which is near and dear to my heart, to new heights!"

During the 2021-22 season, Rogers was an assistant coach at Coppin State under Harper, where she won a school-record six games against Division I nonconference opponents. She helped lead the team to their first winning season since the 2013-14 campaign and earn several MEAC Postseason awards.

Rogers spent the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach at nearby UMBC where she was charged with leading the offense and working with the post players.

Prior to joining the Retrievers, Rogers was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Radford University starting in 2016. While at Radford, Rogers helped coach the Highlanders to two Big South regular-season championships and a tournament championship to cap off the 2018-19 slate. Rogers won 73 games and made three trips to the postseason with the Highlanders, going to the NCAA tournament in 2018-19 and the WNIT twice (2016-17 and 2017-18).

Before her stint at Radford, Rogers spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Towson under Geckeler. While with the Tigers, Rogers signed two top players from ESPN and USA Today's No. 1 team in the nation and helped to coach All-CAA players Tanisha McTiller, who finished first in scoring in the conference, Dominique Johnson, Breonn Hughey, and Raven Bankston.

Rogers spent the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach at Winthrop University, where the Eagles broke 45 team records. Rogers was also responsible for all recruiting efforts where she signed a Top-100 class that season.

Rogers' first collegiate coaching experience came when she was a graduate assistant coach at Clemson from 2009-11, where she assisted the recruiting coordinator with the recruiting efforts for the team. She earned a Master of Science in Youth Development Leadership during her tenure with the Tigers.

In 2008, Rogers spent five months as a women's basketball coaches' intern for the Washington Mystics, where she assisted in many tasks including planning practices, pregame warm-ups, and working with strength and conditioning.

Rogers spent three seasons as a point guard for the Washington College Shorewomen where she was a three-time captain. She graduated in 2009 with a degree in psychology.

"Christie is a champion in everything she does," Harper said." Her Big South Championships while at Radford are an example of how success follows her everywhere she goes. She is loyal, hardworking, driven and a masterful basketball mind. Her return to Towson will be much appreciated and respected. We are lucky to have her."

Ciara Webb returns to Towson after a successful four-year playing career with the Tigers.

"I am so grateful to join Coach Harper and work alongside her incredible staff," Webb said. "I'm thrilled to be back at TU - this is home for me. I am excited to hit the ground running and start working with our student-athletes and to remind people that Towson is Baltimore's college team."

Webb appeared in 99 games for the Tigers and made 40 starts. She had a breakout senior season, averaging 8.6 points and was second on the team with 5.3 rebounds per game. Over the course of her collegiate career, she amassed 501 points, 299 boards, 103 assists and 107 steals. Webb graduated from Towson in 2015 with a degree in Communications Studies.

From Towson, Webb went onto become the graduate assist coach at Stevenson University from 2018-20. In the role she recruiting and evaluated prospective student-athletes, coordinated travel arrangements while creating and carrying out practice plans.

In the summer of 2020, Webb was brought on as an assistant coach for the Mustangs. Her responsibilities expanded to oversee the team's guards and offense efficiency.

Webb returned to Towson in January 2021 as an Admissions Counselor for the University. She evaluated freshman and transfer applications for admission, hosted recruiting events and counseled incoming students. She also handled all recruited student-athlete applications and communication to the Athletics Department.

"Ciara is a young star in the making," said Harper. "From the moment we connected I instantly heard her passion and drive for the success of Towson women's basketball. Ciara is committed, hard working and a pleasure to work with. She will continue her legacy started as a player while representing Towson with pride.
