LaMonica, Williams and Liucci Twins Selected for IWLCA Senior All-Star Game

TOWSON, Md. — Four members of the Towson University women's lacrosse team have been selected to the 2022 IWLCA Division I Senior All-Star Team. Head Coach Sonia LaMonica was picked to lead the South Team while Kerri Liucci, Nicole Liucci and Erin Williams were chosen to play.

Five-time Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Coach of the Year Sonia LaMonica led the Tigers in one of the toughest nonconference schedules in the country, featuring nine teams mentioned in the ILWomen/IWLCA poll at some point over the season. In CAA play, the team dominated, going 5-1 to clinch the No. 1 seed in the 2022 CAA Tournament and advance to the title game for the first time since 2018.

Kerri Liucci emerged as one of the top offensive threats for the Black & Gold this season, totaling 15 goals. She scored a career-high hat trick twice, against both Georgetown (March 26) and Hofstra (April 16). Liucci came up clutch for Towson against Drexel, scoring the game-winner in overtime of the teams' regular season contest.

Nicole Liucci emerged as the team's starting defensive midfielder at the beginning of the season. Starting 14 games, Liucci scooped up 20 ground balls to rank sixth on the squad in addition to seven caused turnovers. She also tallied a score against Saint Joseph's (March 5). Liucci matched her career highs with three ground balls against William & Mary (April 27) and two turnovers caused at Delaware (March 6).

As the veteran leader and anchor on defense, Williams started every game of her four-year career. She finished the season ranked fourth with 14 caused turnovers and fifth with 26 ground balls. Williams picked up a career high five ground balls against UMBC (March 9) and William & Mary (April 27) this spring.

The Senior All-Star games will be held on Tierney Field at USA Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Maryland on Sunday, June 5. The Division III teams will play the first game at 11:00 a.m. EDT, the Division I game will follow at 12:45 p.m., and the Division II teams will cap off the event with their game at 2:30 p.m. Admission for all three games is free of charge.
