One Pro Game, Three Tiger Standouts in PLL Week Two

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – One game. Two teams. Three Tigers.

Three Towson University men's lacrosse alumni clashed Saturday evening in Charlotte, North Carolina for the second week of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) as Atlas LC and Cannons LC met at American Legion Memorial Stadium.

Koby Smith '22 and his Atlas LC squad picked up a 16-8 win over Cannons LC, which features fellow Tigers Ryan Drenner '17 and Zach Goodrich '19. Alex Woodall '19 was not listed on the game day roster for Cannons LC.

The PLL heads for Long Island this weekend at a site deeply familiar to the former Towson standouts: Shuart Stadium on the campus of the Tigers' longtime nemesis, Hofstra University. Smith and Atlas LC have the nightcap on Friday with a 8:45 p.m. clash against two-time league champion Whipsnakes LC on ESPN+. Cannons LC round out the weekend in Hempstead, New York with a 4 p.m. showdown with Archers LC at 4 p.m. on Saturday, live on ESPN+.

Below is a capsule of each Tigers' weekend in the Queen City.

Ryan Drenner (Cannons LC)
Ryan Drenner collected one goal on seven shots in Charlotte, scoring with 2:04 to play in the first period, getting a feed from Asher Nolting. That marker put Cannons LC up 3-1, which ballooned to 4-1 just 30 seconds later.

Zach Goodrich (Cannons LC)
Former three-time captain Zach Goodrich caused one turnover in the Cannons' set back. In postgame, Goodrich noted to PLL beat writer Sarah Griffin: "Throughout the game we played a really good six-on-six offense. We've just got to be better and clean it up in the middle of the field."

Koby Smith (Atlas LC)
Koby Smith scored the first goal of his professional career, striking in transition. Coming downfield untouched, Smith threw a fake pass to his left, freezing the defender before scoring five-hole on Cannons LC netminder Nick Marrocco. Smith added a caused turnover to his line as well.

Alex Woodall (Cannons LC)
Alex Woodall was not listed on the Cannons' game day dress roster for this past weekend.
