TOWSON, Md. – The big week for
Mikey Weisshaar continues as the Towson University attack has been selected as a 2026 Tewaaraton Trophy nominee.
Weisshaar earns a place on the 25-member nominee list for the second straight season. He is just the second Towson player to be a two-time Tewaaraton nominee since Zach Goodrich was a nominee in each 2017 and 2018.
This continues a great week for Weisshaar, who became the highest pick ever for a Towson Tiger in the history of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Draft on Tuesday. The Arnold, Maryland native was taken second overall by the Boston Cannons.
Weisshaar, who was on the original 2026 Tewaaraton Watch List, was the CAA Preseason Player of the Year and an
Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-American.
Five finalists will be selected from the 25 nominees in early May. The finalists will be honored at the 2026 Tewaaraton Award Ceremony at the Andrew W Mellon Auditorium in Washington, D.C. on May 28.
Going into the weekend, the senior attack was the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) leader in points and assists per game, having 33 goals and 20 assists for 53 points into April 18. He ranked eighth in DI in points and goals per game heading into Saturday.
Towson's next game will be against Hofstra at Unitas on Saturday, April 25 at 12 p.m. Tickets for the game are available here:
