TOWSON, Md. – Mikey Weisshaar will be headed to the professional ranks after the 2026 college season, being selected second overall in the first round of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Draft by the Boston Cannons.
 
Weisshaar becomes the fifth Tiger to be drafted into the PLL since the outdoor league was founded in 2019 and the highest Towson player to be taken in the PLL Draft.  He is the fourth Tiger to be drafted in the top-five, with only Towson, Cornell, Duke and Virginia being able to claim that feat. 
 
Other Tigers in the top-five drafted are Zach Goodrich (3^rd overall, 2019), Koby Smith (5^th overall, 2022) and Alex Woodall (4^th overall, 2019).
 
Weisshaar is the first Tiger taken in the PLL Draft since Colby Barsz was selected 24^th overall by the Utah Archers in 2024.
 
Weisshaar will join fellow Towson players Ryan Drenner and Zach Goodrich on the Boston Cannons for the upcoming 2026 season.
 
The senior attack from Arnold, Maryland stands second all-time in Towson history in points with 211 off 140 goals and 71 assists in 57 career games.  The 2025 CAA Offensive Player of the Year and two-time All-American has 33 goals and 20 assists this year for 53 points, the third straight year earning at least 50 points on the season.
 
The draft was aired live on ESPNU on April 14.  The Towson University men's lacrosse gathered at Doc's Kitchen in the Towson Center in support of Weisshaar, watching the draft live on national television.
 
The PLL season begins on May 8-9 in Salt Lake City, Utah, but the Cannons first play on Friday, May 15 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.  Weisshaar will join the Cannons upon conclusion of the 2026 Towson campaign.
