No. 16 Towson Men’s Lacrosse Resumes Road Travels at Hampton

TOWSON, Md. – The No. 16 Towson University men's lacrosse team's next two games will be on the road, beginning with a visit to Hampton on Saturday, April 11 at noon.
 
The game will be broadcast live on FloCollege with Jack Lowe and Connor Burns will have the call live from Armstrong Stadium.
 
Towson stands alone in first place in the CAA at 3-0, coming off a 15-10 win vs. Monmouth on April 4 for the team's fifth straight win and a 7-3 overall record.  Hampton, playing in its second straight home game, fell to Drexel 22-6 on April 4 to be 0-10 overall and 0-3 in the CAA.
 
Towson has been in the top-20 of the polls the last five weeks, being at #16 in each the USILA Coaches Poll and in the Inside Lacrosse Media poll.  Hampton is not ranked in either poll.
 
Since Hampton joined the CAA starting in the 2023 season, Towson is 3-0 against Pirates, winning 25-3 at home in the last meeting on April 12, 2025.
 
Towson's next two games are on the road, including at Hampton then at Fairfield on April 18 at noon.
 
TOWSON - BACK-TO-BACK CAA CHAMPIONS
Towson enters 2026 as the two-time reigning CAA champion, including two undefeated regular seasons and wins in the CAA Tournament, leading to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances.
 
Towson has won 10 CAA championships, all coming since 2003.  Its back-to-back titles are the first for Towson since winning three straight from 2015-17. 
 
Towson's 10 conference tournament titles, since the establishment of men's lacrosse as a sport in the CAA, are the most in the league.  Second is Delaware, which won five before leaving the league in 2025.
 
21 STRAIGHT CAA REGULAR SEASON WINS
Towson has been dominant in league play, winning the last 21 regular season CAA games dating back to the 2023 season.  This includes 7-0 undefeated CAA regular season records in each 2024 and 2025.  It is the longest consecutive conference win streak in program history and the longest currently in Division I.
 
In addition, Towson has a 21-game winning streak against conference opponents including league tournaments, the ninth longest streak in DI history.

TOWSON -  RANKED IN NATIONAL POLLS
Towson has been in the national rankings the last five weeks, standing at No. 16 in each the USILA Coaches Poll and the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll after entering the season ranked No. 15 and No. 16 in each poll respectively.  Towson has finished the past two seasons ranked nationally in the top-15.  Towson is also the lone top-20 ranked team in the CAA.
 
The Tigers defeated now-No. 13/9 Virginia on March 7.  Other Towson opponents either ranked or receiving votes in the polls include Johns Hopkins, Loyola, Navy, Saint Joseph's and Villanova.
 
WEISSHAAR - INSIDE LACROSSE MIDSEASON ALL-AMERICAN, TEWAARATON WATCH LIST MEMBER
Mikey Weisshaar was selected as a 2026 Tewaaraton Trophy Watch List member, then on April 3, he was named as an Inside Lacrosse Midseason Third Team All-American.  The reigning CAA Offensive Player of the Year is the CAA leader in assists and points per game, standing with 31 goals and 17 assists for 48 points.  Weisshaar has earned Inside Lacrosse Midseason All-America honors the last three seasons.  On March 28, Weisshaar became the third Tiger ever to surpass the career 200-points mark at Towson.
 
HIGH-POWERED TIGER OFFENSE
Towson, which has the top scoring offense in the CAA with 13.3 goals per game, has the top three players in the league in points per game.

ROUSSEL - USA LACROSSE MAGAZINE DI MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Roussel's historic day in the win at Virginia on March 9 earned him USA Lacrosse Magazine DI Player of the Week.  The senior attack had a hand in nine of Towson's 13 scores, earning career-highs of nine points, five goals and four assists in the road victory.
 
WEISSHAAR APPROACHING TOWSON RECORDS
Mikey Weisshaar is in position to place himself high in the Towson record books.  He currently stands second in Towson history with 138 goals and third with 206 points.  With 206 points in 56 career games played, he is averaging 3.68 points per game.
 
He currently stands with two of the top-eight single season records in goals in Towson history plus his 72 points in 2025 was seventh in Towson single season history.

VILLAGOMEZ EARNS CAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR THIRD TIME
Joaquin Villagomez was selected as the CAA Offensive Player of the Week after earning three goals and two assists in Towson's win over Monmouth on April 4.  Towson has notched six CAA Offensive Player of the Week awards this season, including three by Villagomez.

SCOUTING HAMPTON:
Hampton is led by Vincent Culpepper in his first year at the helm after being the offensive coordinator for the Pirates the previous two seasons.
 
Two Pirates have scored over 20 goals in 2026: true freshman attack Anthony Bardonille Jr. is tied for fourth in the CAA in goals per game, totaling 26 this year with nine assists, while junior and Saint Joseph's transfer Maliik Wood is seventh in the league in goals per game, having 21 goals and nine assists.
 
Marist transfer Miles Lancaster has started every game in goal for Hampton, having a 43.3% save rate and a 20.63 goals allowed average.  Freshman close defenseman Judah Johnson-Nixon is the team leader in caused turnovers with nine, adding 19 ground balls.
 
Five different players have taken multiple faceoffs for Hampton.  Junior Matthew Hall took the most last game vs. Drexel, winning 31.6% this season.

NADELEN NAMED HEAD COACH OF U20 MEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Towson head coach Shawn Nadelen was selected as the head coach of the United States Men's U20 National Team.  Nadelen coached the U.S. U20 Team to a silver medal finish in 2025 World Lacrosse Men's U20 Championship in South Korea this past summer.  Towson assistant coach Andy Shilling also served in the same role for the U.S. U20 Team.
 
Nadelen is the second Towson men's lacrosse head coach to lead one of the U.S. National Teams.  Tony Seaman, Towson head coach from 1999 to 2011, was the head coach of the U.S. Men's Senior National Team for the 1994 World Lacrosse Championship.
 
TWO TIGERS SELECTED AS CAPTAINS
Towson has picked two captains for the 2026 season, each serving as a captain for the first time.

WEISSHAAR, SMITH HONORED IN CAA PRESEASON AWARDS
Two Towson players were honored in the CAA preseason awards.
 
Mikey Weisshaar, the reigning CAA Offensive Player of the Year, is the CAA Preseason Player of the Year for the second straight season.  He made the 2026 Preseason All-CAA Team along with Elijah Smith, who earns his first-ever preseason all-league honor.
 
TOWSON PREDICTED TO FINISH FIRST IN CAA IN 2026
In the preseason coaches poll, reigning CAA Tournament champion Towson has been predicted to finish first in the CAA in 2026.  Towson was a unanimous first-place selection (coaches could not vote for their own team) with six first-place votes.
