TOWSON, Md. — Hayley Horvath of the Towson University track & field team has been named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Womens' Co-Field Athlete of the Year. The conference made the announcement Tuesday morning, following voting from the league's nine head coaches voted to decide the year-end honors.
This is Horvath's second straight (Co-) CAA Field Athlete of the Year award and the third consecutive for the Tigers as Michella Obijiaku was selected for the praise in 2019. The senior shares the honor with Northeastern's Dominique Biron.
Horvath had another successful spring season in 2022, picking up four first place finishes. She threepeated as the CAA pole vault champion, winning the meet with a final mark of 4.00 meters. She was the only student-athlete to reach 4.00 meters and ended her career going undefeated in conference competition.
The Princeton New Jersey product was also crowned the ECAC outdoor pole vault champion in back-to-back campaigns with a meet record height of 4.8 meters.
Horvath ended her time in the Black & Gold with a second consecutive trip to the NCAA East Regional Qualifier. She registered a season personal best and CAA season high 4.21 meters to place 13th.
