"I am thrilled to join the staff here at Towson University." Said Freeman. "Coach Walker-Hall has an exciting vision for where this program can go, and there is no doubt we have the personnel and resources here at TU to elevate this program to the next level. I am thankful to Steve Eigenbrot and the athletic department for allowing me to join the Tiger family!"

Freeman comes to Towson after being an assistant coach for the Mississippi College cross country and track & field teams. During his time with the Choctaws, he helped lead the women's team to qualify for their first-ever NCAA DII National Championships in 2021; prior to this they had never finished higher than ninth at the NCAA South Region. At NCAAs they exceeded expectations and finished 24th overall.

Freeman worked with Jasmin Hernandez, who became the first woman to ever break 5:00 in the mile at Mississippi College, running a 4:53.75 at the South Carolina Invitational. Hernandez also had a stellar performance at NCAAs in cross country last fall, earning a 68th place finish. He helped produce nine All-GSC cross country performers, four NCAA cross country All-Region performers, six GSC Indoor Champions, 16 Indoor All-GSC performers, three GSC Outdoor champions and nine Outdoor All-GSC Performers.

During his two years at MC the team broke school records in every single indoor and outdoor distance event. He helped both the men's and women's teams accomplish the highest finishes at the conference level in school history. Under his lead the Lady Choctaws earned several program bests in the Gulf South Conference including placing second in cross country, second in indoor track & field and third in outdoor track & field.

Prior to this Freeman spent three years as the assistant cross country/track and field coach at Baldwin Wallace University where he helped lead the women's team to become NCAA Great Lakes Region champions for the first time in program history. During his final year there, the Yellow Jackets were 16th in the nation and second at regionals.

He also coached Kelly Brennan, who was a four-time NCAA All-American and 2019 NCAA National runner-up in the 800m outdoors, along with Alyssa Laughner, who was the fastest freshman in the steeplechase at DIII NCAAs in 2019. Freeman was responsible for coaching five NCAA National Qualifiers, four NCAA All-Americans, one NCAA National runner-up, 11 NCAA XC All-Region performers, nine OAC Conference Champions and 12 USTFCCCA Academic All-Americans.

Freeman graduated from Walsh University in 2017 where he earned his bachelor's degree in history and minored in art.

The Tigers will open the fall season on Sept. 3 with the Delaware Opener 5K, hosted by Delaware. The meet will be in Newark, Delaware at the White Clay Creek cross country course.
