Towson, Md. – Towson University women's tennis team opened their fall season with the first day of the Tribe Invitational. Single and doubles play will wrap up tomorrow morning and afternoon.
Singles
Flight Green:
Jessica Assenmacher dropped her match to USC's Emma Charney, in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. Assenmacher will play Mila Mejic of Indiana University at 8:30 a.m.
Sarah Pospischill fell in her match against Dariya Radulova of Virginia Tech (6-3, 6-1). The senior from Austria will square off against East Carolina's Ines Bachir tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
Gold Draw:
Olivia Rothfeld battled against Semra Aksu of Virginia Tech and lost 6-2, 6-4. Rothfeld will face-off against William & Mary's Ine Stange tomorrow at 9:30 a.m.
Sissi Axelsson dropped her match against USC's Nathalie Rodiloss 6-1, 6-1. Axelsson will battle Kim Auerswald of East Carolina at 9:30 a.m.
Black Draw:
Antonia Lawson squared off against William & Mary's Alexandra Vesikallio and fell 6-2, 6-0. The junior from New Zealand will compete against East Carolina's Joan Madi at 9:45 a.m.
Lea Kosanovic faced off against Rose Hu of Indiana University and fell 6-1, 6-1. Kosanovic will face Makenna Doyle of Virginia Tech at 9:45 a.m.
White Draw:
Elessa Jacobs had to forfeit her match due to injury against Emma Pell of William & Mary. Jacobs is scheduled to meet to Virginia Tech's Sophia Mitchell at 11:00 a.m.
Erin Gray dropped her match versus William & Mary's Kensie Cricchio 6-1, 6-3. Gray will compete against Isabella Rivera Ortiz of East Carolina at 11:00 a.m.
Grey Draw:
Sania Suchinsky went against Anne Lou Champion of East Carolina and fell 6-4, 6-2 in a contested match. Suchinsky will meet Lily Hackbirth of Virginia Tech at 1:30 p.m.
Doubles
All-In Draw: Kosanovic/Axelsson dropped their first doubles match against USC's Charney/Rodiloss 6-2. In the second match, the pair fell to Indiana's Mejic/ Hu 6-1.
Rothfeld/Lawson squared off versus Alhach/Van Meeteren of William & Mary and fell 6-0, but in their second match won a hard-fought match 7-6 (3) over Virginia Tech's Aksu/Radulova. They will face Indiana's Mejic/Hu tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
Tribe Draw: Assenmacher/Pospischill went against Vaissaud/Pell of William & Mary and fell 6-0. The duo had a bye in the second round, so they will play face the winner of Jacobs/Suchinsky and Hussain/Bachir tomorrow at 3:00 p.m.
Jacobs/Suchinsky faced Vesikallio/Cricchio of William & Mary and dropped their match 6-2. The pair will meet East Carolina's Hussain/Bachir at 10:30 a.m.
Griffin Draw: Gray teamed up with Makenna Doyle of Virginia Tech to face Virginia Tech's Mitchell/Hackbirth and fell 6-3. The pair will compete against the duo of Becker/ Madi of East Carolina at 3:00 p.m.
