Towson, Md. – Towson University women's tennis team wrapped up the second day of the Tribe Invitational. The Tigers will compete in the Bedford Cup hosted by Maryland on Sept. 30- Oct. 2.
Singles
Flight Green:
Jessica Assenmacher dropped her match to Indiana's Mila Mejic 6-1, 6-1 in the consolation brcaket.
Sarah Pospischill fought hard in her match against Ines Bachir of East Carolina and won the first set 7-5, then dropped the second set 6-1. In the tiebreaker Bachir won 10-5.
Gold Draw:
Olivia Rothfeld battled against Ine Strange of William & Mary and fell 6-3, 7-5.
Sissi Axelsson squared off against East Carolina's Kim Auerswald and fell 6-2, 6-4.
Black Draw:
Antonia Lawson faced East Carolina's Joan Madi and dropped the match 6-1, 6-1.
Lea Kosanovic went against Makenna Doyle of Virginia Tech and was defeated 6-1, 6-1.
White Draw:
Elessa Jacobs did not compete against Virginia Tech's Sophia Mitchell.
Erin Gray dropped her match versus Isabella Rivera Ortiz of East Carolina 6-4, 6-1.
Grey Draw:
Sania Suchinsky did not compete against Virginia Tech's Lili Hackbirth.
Doubles
All-In Draw: Rothfield/Lawson went against Indiana's Mejic/Hu in the consolation bracket final and fell 6-1.
Tribe Draw: Assenmacher/Pospischill faced off against Hussain/Bachir of East Carolina and were defeated 6-3.
Griffin Draw: Gray teamed up with Makenna Doyle of Virginia Tech and did not compete against Becker/Madi of East Carolina in their final match of the tournament.
