Towson, Md.- Towson University Tigers tennis team picked up multiple wins in singles and doubles to advance to the semi-finals of their respective flights.

Coach Jamie Peterson said, "There were a lot of positives from the singles, including five wins and two third set tiebreak wins from Jess and Lea. Doubles lacked tactical aggressiveness overall, but we look to improve on that tomorrow."  

Day One Results 
Singles
Testudo Flight:
No. 3 Sarah Pospischill went against the No. 4 Lauryn Hill and came away victorious with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Pospischill will face No. 1 Hannah Smith in the semi-finals tomorrow.
 
Maryland Flight:
No. 2 Antonia Lawson dropped her match to No. 1 Taylor Garcia 6-2, 7-5. Lawson will go against Lindsay Thompson tomorrow in the West bracket.

No. 4 Jessica Assenmacher battled against No. 3 Lindsay Thompson in a three-set match. Assenmacher took the first set 6-4, dropped the second set 6-1, but won the tiebreaker 10-4 to play Taylor Garcia tomorrow.
 
Red Flight:

No. 4 Sania Suchinsky fell to No. 3 Alejandra Ramirez 6-3, 6-0. Suchinsky will go against Lauren Splett tomorrow in the West bracket.
 
Yellow Flight:
No. 4 Olivia Rothfeld defeated No. 3 Jenin Al-Asadi in straight sets with a score of 6-1, 7-6 (7-5). Rothfeld will face the No. 1 Ana Aran in the semi-finals.

No. 6 Sissi Axelsson advanced past No. 5 Oluwayemisi Ifederu by a walk out.

No. 7 Lea Kosanovic was victorious against No. 8 Emnet Simunyola in a tree set thriller. Kosanovic won the first set 6-2, then dropped the second set 6-1, but won the tiebreaker 10-5. Kosanovic will face fellow teammate Axelsson tomorrow.
 
White Flight:
No. 1 Erin Gray dropped her match to No. 2 Mackenzie Jones 6-2, 6-3.

No. 3 Megan Etienne defeated No. 4 Nadeen Shrebati in a tiebreaking set. Shrebati was the first set 6-3, dropped the following set 6-0 and lost the third set 10-2. Shrebati will face fellow teammate Gray tomorrow in the West bracket.

Doubles 
Green Flight:
No. 5 Assenmacher/Pospischill swept No. 6 Emperess Johnson/Mackenzie Jones 6-0 in the first round, but lost 7-6 (7-4) in the quarterfinals to the duo Lauryn Hill/Averiana Mitchell. Assenmacher/Pospischill will compete in the North bracket against Jenin Al-Asadi/Emily Wirt.

No. 9 Rothfeld/Lawson had a bye in the first round, then faced the No.12 seed duo of Iva Janokvic/Megan Etienne. Rothfeld/Lawson advanced to the semi-finals defeating Janokvic/Etienne 6-3. The duo will face Ana Aran/Ana-Lei Kalawe-Edwards next.

No. 13 Maitree Rout/Ashley Fitz-Patrick defeated No. 14 Shrebati/Gray 6-1. Shrebati/Gray will compete against Hana El Sherif/Alexandra Blackwell in the West bracket.

Blue Flight:
No. 12 Kosanovic/Axelsson fell to No. 11 Carly Cohen/Leonor Oliviera 6-1. The duo for Towson will play against Paige Gilbert/Ashley Kennedy in the West bracket.
