Track & Field Ready For National Open

University Park, PA – The Towson University Track and Field team is gearing up for it's fourth meet of the indoor slate, heading to Penn State for the National Open on Jan 27 and 28.
 
Event Information
Facility: Ashenfelter III Indoor Track / Multi-Sport Facility & Horace
Field: This is a packed meet as universities from all three divisions will be participating. Towson will be up against Penn State, UVA, Guelph, UPenn, North Carolina, Duke, Buffalo, Villanova, Kent State, Akron, Findlay, Army West Point, William & Mary, Coppin State, UMBC, Ashland, Bowling Green, Delaware, Rider, Walsh, West Virginia, Duquesne, Mount Union, Saint Francis, UNA, Loyola (MD), Bucknell, Edinboro, Lock Haven and Geneva. 
Race Times: On Friday, field events begin with the women's weight throw at 2:00 p.m. and track events start with the mixed mile run at 3:00 p.m. Saturday begins with the unseeded sections of the women's 400-meter dash, and field events begin at 11:00 a.m. with the women's high jump.

Last Meet Recap
The Tigers are coming off a second-place finish at last weekend's Gulden Invite at Bucknell University. The 109 points earned by the team were led by the five first place finishes picked up by Cristal Cuervo, Leaann Redlo, Emmanuel Mevo and Fatimah Owens.
Cuervo grabbed the first gold medal of the meet for Towson, winning the 400-meter dash with a 57.44. Redlo earned the first-place spot in the high jump at 1.69 meters. Fatimah Owens won the weight throw at 17.27m, followed closely by teammate Georgia Coleman who threw a 17.25m. Emmanuel Mevo picked up two wins during the meet, winning the long (5.75) and triple (11.58) jump. Mevo won field event MVP for her performance. The freshman is also currently ranked fourth in the CAA for the long jump.
