HAMPDEN, Mass. – After rounds of 302-306-302 the Towson University men's golf team wrapped up the UCONN Invitational with a final score of 910 to finish in 10
th place. The Tigers ranked third overall for par 3s, averaging 3.18.
"This was a good learning week for us," head coach
Mike Larkin stated. "A bunch of our young guys got experience on one of the toughest golf courses they'll play in college. We'll take a lot of good and new information from this tournament into Bucknell later this week."
Host Connecticut managed to hold onto the top spot, becoming the tournament champions after rounds of 292-292-284 to finish 4-over par. The huskies had five players finish in the top-20 individually including Connor Goode who claimed the first-place spot after rounds of 71-73-71.
Ariihau Faana matched his score from the second round, shooting another 76 to wrap up the tournament. He added three more birdies to his scorecard to total five throughout the three rounds. Fanna ended up being Towson's top finisher, tying for 36
th at the conclusion of the event.
Brad Riley improved by eight strokes from yesterday's round to shoot a 73, his lowest score of the tournament. The fifth year notched three birdies and made par across 11 holes.
Jai Sheth shot 80 for his final round, making back-to-back birdies on holes 11 and 12. He added another birdie during the front nine as well.
Michael Matheson and
Matthew Gonnello wrapped up their first collegiate tournaments shooting 79 and 74 respectively. Combined the two made three birdies.
