Towson Gymnastics Adds Three To 2024 Signing Class

TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University gymnastics team welcomes three incoming student-athletes, who have all signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) and are set to join the Tigers in the fall of 2024.

Piper Slocum from The Woodlands, Texas trains for the World Champions Centre – home to Olympic champion Simone Biles. Slocum specializes in vault and uneven bars, where her career highs are 9.8 and 9.775 respectively. She has highs of 9.6 on both beam and floor. At the 2023 Region 3 Level 9/10 Regionals she was the runner-up on floor, scoring a 9.600. Slocum is a three-time Development National Meet qualifier (2021, 22 & 23) and Nastia Lukin Cup Qualifier (2021).

Ava Harper of Roswell, Georgia belongs to the Roswell Gymnastics Club. Her career bests include a 9.75 on floor, 9.625 on bars and 9.65 on vault and beam. At the 2023 Georgia State Championship she was the runner-up on bars (9.6), floor (9.7) and all around (38.275). Harper is a GK US Classis qualifier, 2023 level 10 Regional champion on floor and two-time level 10 national qualifier.

Georgia native Emma Duerre trains for Roswell Gymnastics club as well. She holds career highs of 9.775 on beam and floor, 9.675 on vault and 9.625 on bars. Duerre placed first on beam (9.75), floor (9.475) and all around (37.90) at the 2023 Sweet Tea Classic. She was the 2022 all-around State Champion after placing first on vault and beam. Duerre was listed in the 2023 America's Top-100 for beam, ranking 55th. She is a four-time level 10 Regionals qualifier and two-time level 10 Nationals qualifier.

The Black & Gold unofficially kick off their season on January 9 with the annual intrasquad meet. Towson starts the 2024 campaign on the road, competing in a tri meet at Ohio State with Ball State on January 14.
