TOWSON, Md. – Towson University softball announced the signing of five players to national letters of intent during the early signing period. Mackenzie Gorczyca, Kayla Pilson, Olivia Trombley, Amanda Ashe and Kaci Benton all signed with the Tigers and will start their Towson careers in the fall of 2024.
Mackenzie Gorczyca | IF | 5-8
Frederick, Md. / St. Mary's Ryken
Gorczyca has been a standout for St. Mary's Ryken High School, batting .536 with a .929 slugging percentage and 23 RBIs as a junior. She has been named All-Met Honorable Mention and All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) First Team and Second Team during her three seasons with the Knights. Off the field, Gorczyca has earned high honor roll honors for 25 consecutive quarters, is a member of the National Honor Society and has won various community awards.
Kayla Pilson | P/OF | 5-5
Round Hill, Va. / Woodgrove
Pilson comes to Towson from Woodgrove High School where she helped her team reach the Virginia state semifinals in 2022. In the circle she sported a 5-0 record, allowing just 10 earned runs with 52 strikeouts in 35.2 innings. She hit .338 at the plate with a .868 slugging percentage, one home run and 13 RBIs. Her travel team won the USA Gold National Championship in 2023.
Olivia Trombley | P/1B | 6-0
Parker, Colo. / Ponderosa
Trombley helped Ponderosa High School to a 2021 regional championship and to the Colorado state tournament in 2021 and 2022. During her career she has batted .471 with 24 home runs, 104 RBIs and has a 2.77 ERA in the circle with 314 strikeouts. She is a three-time all-league first teamer and has earned all-state first team honors in 2022 and 2023. Trombley also excelled in track and field qualifying for states in the discus in 2023.
Amanda Ashe | OF | 5-8
Stafford, Va. / Mountain View
Ashe comes from Mountain View High School where she was named All-District and All-Area twice and helped her team to a Commonwealth District Championship in 2022. Last season she slashed .303/.636/.333 with 20 RBIs. The year prior she slashed .412/.667/.464 with 22 runs scored. Ashe is also a member of the National Art Honor Society and National Honor Society.
Kaci Benton | C | 5-6
Bordentown, N.J. / Bordentown Regional
Benton has been named First and Second Team All-Conference as well as Second Team All-Area and Third Team All-State during her career at Bordentown Regional High School. Benton hit a grand slam the past season to help her team advance to sectionals, where Bordentown Regional has won twice. She hit a personal best .433 as a sophomore.
