SANTIAGO, Chile – Cristal Cuervo of Towson University track and field represented her home country of Panama in the Santaigo 2023 Pan American games on November 1.
The Pan American games are a multi-sport event that take place every four years in the year before the Summer Olympic Games. Thousands of athletes from nations on American continents compete in primarily summer sports from October to November. The 2023 Pan American Games consists of over 6000 athletes from 41 countries competing in 39 sports.
Cuervo competed in the 200m dash Wednesday night, placing sixth in her heat and 11
th overall after clocking a 24.13 which is her sixth fastest time in the event.
This is the junior's second international competition this year as she attended the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santa Domingo in July. Cuervo ran a 23.83 in the 200m dash, narrowly missing finals by a spot
