TOWSON, Md. – Towson University head baseball coach
Matt Tyner has released the 2024 schedule, announced Wednesday afternoon.
"With the addition of three conference champions and seven regional teams from a season ago on the slate, this schedule will prove to be an interesting challenge for the Black & Gold," sixth-year head coach
Matt Tyner added.
The schedule features 56 games, including 28 home games at John B. Schuerholz Park. All home games are free to attend for the public. First pitch for weekday home games is 3:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Saturday and Sunday home games start at 1:00 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Road game times will be announced (TBA) as they become available.
Towson opens the 2024 slate with three consecutive road trips, starting in Spartanburg, S.C., with four games against Wofford and Bucknell. The Tigers face the Terriers Friday (Feb. 16) before facing the Bison Saturday. On Sunday, Feb. 18, the Tigers play a split doubleheader against both squads.
The next stop is Boca Raton, where TU faces Florida Atlantic in a three-game series Friday, Feb. 24 to Sunday, Feb. 26.
The Black & Gold open the month of March with a four-game series against ACC power NC State March 1 to March 3 in Raleigh, N.C. The squads play one game Friday, a doubleheader Saturday and one game Sunday.
In the opening home series of the season, the Tigers host the Yale Bulldogs at Schuerholz Park from March 8 to March 10. First pitch Friday is set for 2:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, March 12, local-foe UMBC visits for the first midweek matchup on the 2024 slate. That weekend, Towson hosts Niagara in a three-game series from March 15 to March 17. First pitch Saturday is set for 2:30 p.m.
The squad goes back on the road to play Duke on Tuesday, March 19 in Durham, N.C. before hosting George Washington on Wednesday, March 20 in the first of two against the Revolutionaries on the slate.
The Tigers open Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play in West Long Branch, N.J. to face Monmouth in a three-game series March 22 to 24.
George Washington hosts TU in Arlington, Va. in the second of two games on March 27.
The Tigers resume CAA play with back-to-back series at Schuerholz Park against Hofstra and Northeastern. The Tigers and Pride square off from March 29 to 31. The Huskies visit Towson April 5 to 7.
Towson goes back on the road to face its third ACC opponent of the season in Virginia on April 10. That weekend, the defending-CAA champion UNCW Seahawks host Towson April 12 to 14 at Brooks Field in Wilmington, N.C.
On April 16, Mount St. Mary's visits Schuerholz Park for the first of two matchups against the Mountaineers on the year. Coppin State comes to Towson on April 17 for a standalone matchup.
From April 19 to 21, the Tigers visit Stony Brook for the first league matchup on Long Island between the two squads.
The Tigers go to Catonsville, Md. on April 23 to face UMBC in the second of two against the Retrievers.
Towson returns to CAA play at home against Delaware Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28.
On Tuesday, April 30, the Maryland Terrapins visit Schuerholz Park for a midweek matchup. The following day, the Tigers play the second of two against Mount St. Mary's on May 1 in Emmittsburg, Maryland.
Towson follows that by returning home for a five-game homestand, starting with the College of Charleston from Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 5.
The Richmond Spiders visit on Tuesday, May 7 for a midweek matchup before the Tigers host George Mason that Wednesday, May 8.
The Black & Gold make the trek to Williamsburg, Virginia for the final CAA road series of the season against William & Mary from May 10 to 12.
To close out the regular season, the Tigers host North Carolina A&T at Schuerholz Park from May 16 to 18.
The CAA Tournament commences Wednesday, May 22 at Brooks Field in Wilmington, North Carolina, running through Saturday, May 25.
