TOWSON, Md. – The Towson University softball team announced its 2024 schedule on Tuesday. The schedule features 56 games with 23 home contests, including the annual TU DeMarini Invite in early March.
Towson is coming off a 30-25, 14-10 CAA season that saw the Tigers advance to the CAA Championship round last spring after sweeping through the winner's bracket as the five seed. The Tigers finished the season with a 30-25 record, their first winning record since 2018 when they also had 30-plus wins.
The Tigers will kick off the season with their first of two trips to South Carolina at USC Upstate February 9-11. Towson will take on Loyola Chicago and Toledo on Feb. 9 before playing South Carolina State and host Upstate on Feb. 10. The weekend ends with a 10 a.m. contest against South Carolina State on Feb. 11.
The following weekend the Tigers will head to the Furman Tournament that will feature games against Lipscomb (Feb. 16-17), host Furman (Feb. 17). IUPUI (Feb. 18), and Georgetown (Feb. 18).
Towson will then head to Greenville, N.C. for the East Carolina Tournament February 23-25. The Tigers will play Rider on Feb. 23 and 25, the host Pirates on Feb. 23 and 24 and North Carolina Central on Feb. 24.
The Tigers make their home debut against Coppin State on February 28 before hosting the TU DeMarini Invite. The home tournament will feature Howard, Providence and UMass Lowell. Towson will open the tournament on Thursday, Feb. 29 against Howard before playing Providence and UMass Lowell on March 1, UMass Lowell on March 2 and Howard on March 3 to close out the weekend.
Those five games are part of a 10-game home stand that will end with a midweek matchup against Mount St. Mary's and a weekend set against Hofstra to open Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play. The Tigers will then hit the road for the next five games starting on March 12 at Delaware State and ending March 19 against George Washington with a series against Campbell in between. March ends with home games against George Mason (March 20), UNCW (March 22-24), and at Stony Brook (March 29-31).
April opens with a midweek home contest against Georgetown on April 2 before a three-game set on the road at Drexel (April 5-7). Towson will return home to take on UMBC on April 10 and Elon April 12-13. Following a weekend series at Monmouth on April 19-21, Towson will have its final non-conference matchup at Maryland on April 24.
The regular season ends with CAA series at home against Delaware (April 26-28) and at Hampton (May 2-4). The 2024 CAA Championships will be held May 8-11 at the Delaware Softball Stadium in Newark, Del. with the top six teams making the tournament.
